India, July 31 -- After failing to sustain an early move to the upside, stocks have shown a lack of direction over the course of the trading session on Friday. The major averages have pulled back well off their highs of the session and spent the day bouncing back and forth across the unchanged line.
Currently, the major averages are turning in a mixed performance. While the Dow is up 40.94 points or 0.1 percent at 52,249.00, the Nasdaq is down 44.06 points or 0.2 percent at 25,078.11 and the S&P 500 is down 11.80 points or 0.2 percent at 7,425.83.
