India, Aug. 27 -- Doctors have removed a brain tumor to protect the sight of a man with the world's first live artificial intelligence-assisted brain surgery.
The operation was carried out at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London as part of a clinical trial using AI technology developed in-house at UCLH.
Rhys Hibbert, aged 48 from Bedfordshire, is the first patient to have undergone such a surgery. Without surgery, Rhys' tumor would have continued to threaten his sight and could ultimately have led to blindness.
