India, Sept. 8 -- The Canadian market is down firmly in negative territory on Tuesday with stocks from consumer discretionary, technology, communications and financials sectors reeling under sustained selling pressure.

The mood remains quite cautious amid concerns about geopolitical tensions and tariffs and worries about inflation and interest rates.

The benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 284.50 points or 0.79% at 36,229.30 a little while ago.
