India, Oct. 17 -- The Decemberists have released "The Better Part of Bravery," an original song written for LAIKA's upcoming animated film Wildwood.
The track marks the band's first new music in over two years and will be submitted for Oscar consideration in the Best Original Song category.
Written and performed by frontman Colin Meloy and the band, the song plays during the film's end credits. Wildwood is based on Meloy's 2011 debut novel of the same name.
"Writing the song for the end credits gave me a chance to return to the world of 'Wildwood' in a different way," Meloy said.
