India, Aug. 2 -- The Thai stock market on Friday ended the two-day slide in which it had given up more than 45 points or 2.8 percent. The Stock Exchange of Thailand now sits just beneath the 1,625-point plateau and it's likely to open higher again on Monday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is positive, with retail and energy stocks expected to lead the way higher. The European markets were mixed and the U.S. bourses were up and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.
