India, Sept. 8 -- Surrozen, Inc. (SRZN) announced the submission of an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for SZN-8141, a bifunctional Wnt agonist and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) antagonist antibody being developed for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME).

SZN-8141 And Mechanism

SZN-8141 is designed to combine Frizzled 4 (FZD4)-mediated Wnt agonism with VEGF antagonism in a single molecule.

The treatment is intended to address vascular leakage while promoting retinal vascular integrity through complementary mechanisms.
