India, Aug. 31 -- Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) shares rose 6.83 percent to $82.78 on Monday, despite the company reporting lower second-quarter profit compared with the same period last year.

The stock opened at $140.39 and traded between $130.57 and $142.66 on the Nasdaq. Its 52-week range is $81.08 to $142.66. Trading volume was 511,914 shares, compared with an average volume of 524,553 shares.

The company's net income fell to $102 million, or $2.38 per share, from $127 million, or $2.71 per share, last year. Adjusted earnings were $129 million, or $3.01 per share. Revenue, however, increased 6.3 percent to $1.880 billion from $1.769 billion.
