India, Oct. 24 -- Mariah Carey has won the dismissal of her brother Morgan Carey's $20 million defamation lawsuit over statements in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

New York State Supreme Court Justice Leslie A. Stroth ruled that Morgan failed to establish that the Grammy-winning singer acted with "actual malice" in making the disputed statements.

Morgan filed the lawsuit in May 2021, alleging that the memoir damaged his reputation by portraying him as violent and referring to alleged cocaine trafficking and behavioral problems during childhood.

The judge found that Morgan had not provided sufficient evidence that Mariah knowingly made false statements or acted with reckless disregard for the truth.
