India, Sept. 16 -- Longeveron (LGVN) reported topline results from the Phase 2b ELPIS II trial of laromestrocel in infants with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, with the study failing to meet its primary endpoint of improving right ventricular ejection fraction at 12 months.
Hypoplastic left heart syndrome
Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a rare and serious congenital heart defect in which the left side of the heart is severely underdeveloped, limiting its ability to pump oxygen-rich blood to the body. Infants with HLHS typically undergo a series of staged surgical procedures to support circulation, but they remain at risk of complications including heart failure, hospitalization and death.
