India, Sept. 21 -- Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) said the European Commission has approved ICOTYDE, a once-daily oral treatment for adults and adolescents with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for systemic therapy, marking the first approval of a targeted oral peptide that blocks the IL-23 receptor.
Plaque psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated skin disease that causes inflamed, scaly patches on the skin and can significantly affect a patient's quality of life. The condition impacts an estimated 6.4 million people in Europe, with many patients continuing to struggle despite available treatment options.
