India, Oct. 5 -- Indian shares were sharply higher in early trade on Monday as data showing much weaker-than-expected U.S. job growth in September reduced expectations for a potential Federal Reserve rate hike later this month.
The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 683 points, or 0.95 percent, to 72,593 while the NSE Nifty index was up 190 points, or 0.9 percent, at 22,612.
TCS rose 1.3 percent ahead of its quarterly earnings results due this week.
