India, April 15 -- Menstrual irregularities, which are often dismissed as purely hormonal disturbances, can be redefined in terms of the gut microbiome. Once considered confined to digestion, the gut microbiota can also be recognised as a dynamic endocrine organ capable of influencing distant systems, including the female reproductive axis.
