India, Oct. 13 -- Gold prices were modestly higher on Tuesday as oil prices eased and the dollar retreated from an 18-month high ahead of key U.S. inflation data due later in week, which could influence Federal Reserve expectations.

Spot gold edged up 0.4 percent to $4,1866 an ounce while U.S. gold futures were up half a percent at $4,210.15.

Brent crude prices fell nearly 2 percent to snap a three-session winning streak as Russia partially lifted its diesel export restrictions, helping ease supply constraints in global fuel markets.
