India, Aug. 24 -- U.K. stocks gained modest ground in positive territory Monday morning amid selective buying ahead of Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium and the Trump administration's announcement of fresh economic sanctions on Iran and its trading partners.
The benchmark FTSE 100 was up 27.52 points or 0.25% at 10,844.08 about a quarter before noon.
Miners Antofagasta and Anglo American Plc gained 2% and 1.8%, respectively, contributing notably to market's upmove.
