India, Aug. 24 -- After a weak start and a subsequent recovery that briefly lifted it above the flat line around late morning on Monday, France's equity benchmark CAC 40 edged lower as investors looked ahead to fresh economic data and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech for directional clues.

Investors also looked ahead chip giant Nvidia's earnings update and the Trump administration's announcement of new sanctions against Iran and its trading partners.
