India, Oct. 2 -- After trending lower over the past several sessions, Canadian stocks showed a strong move back to the upside during trading on Friday.

The benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index gave back some ground after an early advance but climbed back firmly into positive territory as the day progressed.

The ended the day up by 347.89 points or 1 percent at 35,502.65, bouncing off its lowest closing level in well over two months.
