India, Sept. 23 -- Cardiometabolic disease refers to a group of closely linked conditions that affect heart and metabolic health, including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), an estimated 19.8 million people died from CVDs in 2022, representing approximately 32% of all global deaths. Of these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke. Notably, Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is expected to account for 22.2 million deaths per year by 2030.
Many of these conditions share common risk factors, such as obesity, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels and elevated blood sugar.
