India, March 4 -- The Australian market is trimming its early gains in mid-market moves on Thursday, reversing some of the sharp losses in the previous session, following the broadly positive cues from Wall Street overnight. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 is moving above the 8,900 level, with gains in financial and technology stocks partially offset by weakness in gold miner and energy stocks.

The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index is gaining 16.00 points or 0.18 percent to 8,917.20, after touching a high of 8,964.10 earlier. The broader All Ordinaries Index is up 23.10 points or 0.25 percent to 9,140.20. Australian stocks ended sharply lower on Wednesday.
