India, Sept. 2 -- American Airlines (AAL) is stepping up its focus on premium travellers with the launch of its first retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER, one of the airline's largest aircraft and a key part of its long-haul international network.

The updated aircraft has 144 premium seats, including 70 lie-flat Flagship Suite seats with sliding doors at the front of the plane. American is replacing traditional international first class on many aircraft with a larger premium cabin as it looks to attract more high-spending travellers.

The aircraft also includes 44 Premium Economy seats with added comfort features and 30 Main Cabin Extra seats with additional legroom. The remaining 186 seats are in the standard Main Cabin.
