India, Sept. 16 -- Abeona Therapeutics Inc. (ABEO), a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced on Wednesday the activation of an eighth clinical testing site at the University of Florida Health (UF Health) for ZEVASKYN in treating recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa.
Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) is a rare, incurable blistering disorder that leads to severe skin wounds. Affected individuals may develop some systemic complications or a reduced quality of life. The disease is caused by a defect in both copies of the COL7A1 gene, resulting in a lack of anchorage in the dermal and epidermal layers of the skin.
