France, July 20 -- Ferran Torres' extra-time strike separated the sides in a gruff encounter at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

The 1-0 victory was Spain's second triumph at the most prestigious national team tournament on the planet and denied Argentina the chance to join Italy and Brazil as the only countries to win back-to-back World Cup competitions in its 96-year history.
