Infantino loses Swiss backing for campaign to remain Fifa chief
France, Oct. 1 -- Swiss-born Infantino was elected Fifa president in February 2016 and had been expected to sweep to a fourth and final term at elections next March, until a failed bid to allow private investment in the World Cup drew calls for reform.
The Swiss Football Association (ASF), one of Fifa's founding members in Paris in 1904, said in June that it would support Infantino.
However, it has gone back on the pledge following a meeting of its central committee on 25 September.
"From the ASF's perspective, several events raise fundamental questions regarding leadership, governance, transparency and decision-making processes within Fifa," said a statement issued on Wednesday.
