UML Vice Chair Bishnu Paudel detained in money laundering probe
Nepal, June 22 -- CPN-UML Vice Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel has been taken into custody by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DoMLI) in connection with an ongoing probe into alleged illicit assets.
According to police sources, Paudel was detained from Surkhet, where he had arrived to attend a party programme, and has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Officials said the action is linked to scrutiny over his stock market transactions and the suspected sources of his wealth. A senior source at the department stated that the investigation is focusing on possible irregularities in his financial dealings.
