Nepal, Sept. 22 -- CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said attempts were made to create a rift between party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and him.

Pokharel made the remarks while addressing the second day of the party's ongoing third Central Committee meeting in Lalitpur. He said suggestions concerning party reorganization and "course correction" had been misinterpreted.

"Chairman seems to have understood it as though I was trying to remove him. Based on the suggestions submitted to the task force, we said everyone now needs to move toward course correction. Attempts were made to create a rift between him and me and widen the distance," he said.
