SC refuses to register petition seeking to halt NC factions' general conventions
Nepal, Sept. 15 -- The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to register a writ petition seeking to halt the 15th general conventions separately announced by the two rival factions of the Nepali Congress (NC) led by President Gagan Kumar Thapa and former President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Lawyer Maniram Upadhyaya, who is also an active member of the NC, had filed the petition on Monday, arguing that there was confusion over which central working committee of the party is legitimate and seeking an order to halt the convention schedules announced by both factions.
According to SC Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, the court had already issued an order on the matter and another case concerning the issue is currently sub judice.
