Rain-induced disasters lead to closure of five major roadways
Nepal, Aug. 4 -- Five major transport routes across the country have been completely disrupted by monsoon-triggered disasters, including floods and landslides.
According to the Department of Roads spokesperson Shubharaj Neupane, the Kanti Highway at Pangdur in Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur; the Sitapaila-Dharke road section at Thulo Khola in Nagarjun Municipality-8, Kathmandu; the Mid-Hill Highway at Bokhim in Bhojpur Municipality-5, Koshi Province; and the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 have been closed due to heavy rainfall.
The department has intensified restoration efforts by deploying dozers and excavators. The public has been urged to use alternative routes until the affected roads are reopened.
