Nepal, April 17 -- The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has warned that doctors providing medical advice or prescribing medicines through social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram without proper examination will face disciplinary action.

Issuing an "urgent notice," NMC directed medical practitioners to immediately stop prescribing medicines without directly examining patients and to refrain from violating patient privacy.

In a statement issued by Registrar Dr Satish Kumar Dev, the council said that prescribing medicines through social media without clinical examination is irresponsible and unscientific, and poses serious risks to patients' health.
