Nepal, July 5 -- Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has criticized the government's handling of sensitive constitutional issues, saying ministers have been making irresponsible public remarks that could create unnecessary tensions.

Addressing a party review programme on the government's first 100 days, Thapa said issues such as provincial names, language, inclusion and constitutional rights require careful handling, but members of the ruling coalition have been making conflicting and casual statements.

He said the ruling parties have failed to respect the sensitivities considered during the drafting of the constitution, warning that such an approach could inflame disputes.
