Nepal, July 20 -- Leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) have accused the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) of violating the Constitution and creating an atmosphere of fear, while calling for an immediate national convention of the party's general convention representatives to prevent a split.

The demand was made during a gathering of NC leaders and cadres in Bhaktapur, which concluded that the party's internal disputes had reached a critical stage and that only a united and undivided Nepali Congress could safeguard democracy and the Constitution.
