Nepal, April 27 -- The central working committee of the Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to appoint Bhishmaraj Angdembe as the Parliamentary Party (PP) leader.
The decision was taken unanimously during the committee meeting and is set to be formally endorsed by an upcoming parliamentary party meeting.
This marks the first time since the 2008 Constituent Assembly elections that the party has chosen its parliamentary leader unanimously.
Angdembe is a Proportional Representation (PR) lawmaker. Initially, Arjun Narsingh KC and Mohan Acharya were also considered key contenders for the position. However, voices within the party had been calling for Angdembe's selection to send a message of unity.
