Nepal, April 23 -- Kathmandu has ranked as the most polluted major city in the world.
According to Switzerland-based international air quality monitoring organization IQAir, Kathmandu recorded the highest level of air pollution among the world's major 100 cities.
As per the organization's live ranking between 2 pm and 3 pm on Thursday, Kathmandu's Air Quality Index (AQI) was measured at 196.
This level is considered very unhealthy in terms of public health.
In the same list of the world's most polluted cities, Lahore in Pakistan ranked second with an AQI of 165.
Similarly, Dhaka in Bangladesh became the third most polluted city with an AQI of 145.
