Nepal, May 4 -- The government has decided to procure 80,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizer from India through a government-to-government (G2G) agreement.

Under the arrangement, Nepal will purchase 60,000 metric tons of urea and 20,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer.

The Cabinet meeting held on Monday granted in-principle approval to Agricultural Inputs Company Limited to proceed with the procurement process through the G2G mechanism with the Indian government.

The government said the move is aimed at ensuring timely fertilizer supply for farmers and preventing shortages during the agricultural season.
