Govt abolishes civil servants' trade union through Act amendment
Nepal, June 10 -- The government has scrapped trade unions of civil servants through a recent amendment to the Civil Service Regulations.
Government Spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday approved the 16th amendment to the Civil Service Regulations, which includes provisions removing trade union rights for government employees.
The move comes after earlier attempts to abolish the provision through an ordinance were put on hold following an interim order from the Supreme Court (SC).
