Nepal, Sept. 26 -- Water flow at the Gandak Barrage along the Nepal-India border has surged amid continuous rainfall, prompting authorities to urge people in downstream areas to remain alert.

The water flow through the barrage was measured at 273,600 cusecs at 9 am Saturday, according to the Gandak Barrage authorities. The water level was recorded at 359.40 feet upstream and 356.80 feet downstream.

A flow of 300,000 cusecs is considered a warning level at the barrage. The current flow is 26,400 cusecs below the threshold.
