Nepal, Aug. 19 -- It took Dorje Gurung, 21, of Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality Ward 6 in Dolpa three days to reach the district headquarters to obtain citizenship. After getting the document on the fourth day, he took another three days to return home. By the time he reached home, a week had passed.

Dolpo Buddha has no road connection for motor vehicles to Dunai, the district headquarters. Residents have to travel along narrow and hazardous trails to reach the headquarters for administrative and other services.

"Because of the difficult terrain, we have no choice but to risk our lives while travelling along narrow trails to the district headquarters," Dorje said. "It takes three full days just to reach the headquarters from home."
