Nepal, Sept. 27 -- Janamat Party Chair CK Raut has criticized the government over the midnight arrest of former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

In a social media post, Raut said Rana was arrested without an arrest warrant at midnight. He also claimed that the government had increasingly arrested political analysts, journalists, activists and critics.

"Former chief justice was arrested without a warrant at midnight! Political analysts, journalists, activists and critics are being arrested one after another. Democracy has already been given a final farewell. Will it reach the point of holding an annual memorial?" Raut wrote.
