Nepal, July 14 -- A 35-year-old man from Sisautiya of Godaita Municipality in Sarlahi, Bibek Mandal, died while undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital in Kathmandu.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Prasad Gautam, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Sarlahi, confirmed that Mandal succumbed to burn injuries on Tuesday morning.

Mandal, who attempted self-immolation on Friday, was initially taken to the Provincial Hospital in Malangawa for primary treatment. He was later referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in Kathmandu and airlifted there by a Nepali Army helicopter for further care. A hospital source said that despite the continuous efforts of surgeons, Mandal could not be saved.
