Wanted over alleged coup plot, Sylva quits APC, says Nigerians will vote against Tinubu in 2027
Nigeria, Aug. 31 -- Former Governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of abandoning the ideals on which it was founded.
Mr Sylva, in his resignation on Monday and addressed to the APC chairperson in Ward 4, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, also accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of operating like "an organ of the APC".
His resignation comes as he remains wanted by the EFCC in connection with an alleged $14.85 million fraud case. He has also been named as a suspect in the alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu.
