Nigeria, Sept. 4 -- The presidency says the ongoing US court case involving President Bola Tinubu is a civil matter and not a criminal matter.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga described the matter as a "civil records-disclosure dispute" under the US FOIA and said no court had found Mr Tinubu guilty of criminal wrongdoing.

"The matter is a civil records-disclosure dispute under the United States Freedom of Information Act. It is not a criminal case against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, nor has the court found him guilty of any criminal wrongdoing," Mr Onanuga said.
