Nigeria, Oct. 5 -- At least two vigilantes were killed and three others injured when suspected gunmen attacked their duty post at Mangor in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, residents said.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 11 p.m. at Angwan Tsarki, a settlement in Mangor, while the vigilantes were on duty.

A resident, Bitrus Simon, told journalists that the attackers opened fire on the vigilantes, killing two and injuring three others.

Mr Simon called for improved security measures to protect residents of the area.

The reported attack occurred as the Plateau State Police Command said it had launched an investigation into a separate shooting along the Bukuru Expressway in Jos South Local Government Area.
