Nigeria, May 15 -- President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD).

The President also constituted the Centre's Governing Council for an initial four-year term, according to a statement signed by Chris Ugwuegbulam, Head of Information and Public Relations, on Thursday.

Before the development, Emezue Ebinepre served as Director-General in an acting capacity.

According to the statement, the appointments, which took effect from 18 April, were made in accordance with Section 7 (1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.
