Nigeria, Aug. 18 -- Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffery Buter believes his side have shown they are ready to compete in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after securing the ValueJet Pre-Season title in Ikenne.

The Lagos-based club defeated reigning champions Remo Stars 2-1 in the final, with second-half goals from Aliyu Baba and Sodiq Ayoade completing a memorable campaign. Taiwo Oyetunde scored Remo Stars' only goal.

Sporting Lagos went through the tournament unbeaten, recording victories over Abia Warriors, Shooting Stars and Remo Stars, while playing out a goalless draw against Rivers United.
