SPECIAL REPORT: Two school abductions 45 days apart. What happened to Borno's Safe Schools measures?
Nigeria, Sept. 8 -- Ten days after suspected insurgents abducted dozens of children in Mussa, Borno State officials visited neighbouring Lassa to reassess the security situation and evaluate the safety of its public schools.
The delegation, led by the state's Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Lawan Wakilbe, visited Mussa, Dille and Lassa on 25 May as part of the government's response to the 15 May abduction.
After the assessment, the government said Mr Wakilbe directed that "all Safe School Initiative measures be fully implemented in the affected schools pending further government directives."
