Nigeria, Jan. 29 -- The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of one Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), two Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), and 26,119 inspectors following its third plenary meeting on 29 January.

In a statement issued by the commission, Funsho Adegboye, an AIG, was elevated to the rank of DIG.

The decision was ratified under the leadership of the PSC chairperson, Hashimu Argungu, a retired DIG.

Also promoted are Commissioners of Police Danjuma Aboki and Dansabo Idi, who were elevated to the rank of AIG after "a merit-based process" that included written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the commission.
