Nigeria, Nov. 4 -- The police in Imo State have confirmed the death of Chiamaka Chukwuokore, a 17-year-old girl who was pushed from a two-storey building in the state.

The police spokesperson in Imo State, Henry Okoye, announced this in a statement on Wednesday.

PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported that a 26-year-old man, Ifeanyi Chukwu, allegedly pushed the teenager from the building on Sunday.

The incident happened on Sunday in Owerri, the state capital.

The police arrested the suspect, saying the victim was a niece of the suspect's unnamed girlfriend.

Mr Okoye, a deputy superintendent of police, said in a Monday statement that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, although her condition remained critical.
