Nigeria, Sept. 7 -- The Osun State governorship battle has now shifted to the courts, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) filing separate petitions challenging the outcome of the 15 August election that returned Ademola Adeleke for a second term.

The Nation reported that the petitions were displayed on the notice board of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo on Monday, signalling the commencement of the tribunal process.

The development came a day after reports that no petition had been filed before the expiration of the 21-day period allowed by law for challenging the election outcome.
