Nigeria, March 2 -- The Nigeria Police Council (NPC) has confirmed the appointment of Tunji Disu as substantive Inspector General of Police.
The council, under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, confirmed the appointment at its Monday meeting.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, who confirmed the confirmation to State House correspondents, said that contrary to wide belief, "there will be no need for a Senate confirmation again based on the provision of the Police Act."
Mr Onanuga also announced that the IGP will be sworn in by the president on Wednesday.
