Nigeria, Aug. 31 -- A new survey by Campus Reporter has found low voter readiness among Nigerian university students ahead of the 2027 general elections, with more than half of respondents not registered to vote.

The Campus Reporter youth participation survey, which covered 222 students across 34 tertiary institutions, found that 52.1 per cent of respondents did not register to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), a requirement for voting.

Only 36 per cent said they would certainly vote in 2027, while 22.1 per cent said they were likely to vote.

Since 2015, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made PVCs a prerequisite for voting in any election.
