Nigeria, Oct. 9 -- Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has appointed Richard Agu as the state's commissioner for transport.

The Secretary to the Enugu State Government (SSG), Chidiebere Onyia, announced this in a statement on Wednesday.

"In accordance with the provisions of the law, his name has been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation," the SSG, a professor, said.

Mr Agu, a lawyer, is the current chairman of Enugu Air, a state-owned airline.

He will replace Obi Ozor, who was recently removed as the commissioner for transport.

Sources said his removal might be linked to an alleged fraud investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
