Nigeria, Sept. 27 -- The Kano State Government on Sunday announced restrictions on durbar processions in the metropolis to avert clashes between supporters of the two claimants to the Emir of Kano stool.

The government's order followed an unexpected public appearance by the 15th emir, Aminu Ado-Bayero.

Mr Ado-Bayero led a procession on Sunday morning from the mini palace on State Road to his private residence in Mandawar, with thousands of people lining the route.

The route took the procession through IBB Way, Wambai, Zage, and Yola Road before arriving at his Mandawari residence.
